From Lillehammer, NOR
(November 19, 2022) – Mystique Ro won her second IBSF gold medal of the season, edging out European Cup Race 1 winner Freya Tarbit for top honors.
USA’s Ro had the two fastest starts of the race and the best time in both heats on her way to a .17 second victory over Great Britain’s Tarbit.
The gold for Ro was her first in the 2022/2023 IBSF European Cup season. She had previously won in the Intercontinental Cup season opener, also in Lillehammer.
For Tarbit, the silver came one day after winning the EC season opener.
Tarbit’s teammate, Tabby Stoecker, won her first European Cup medal with a bronze, just .1 out of silver.
Italy’s Alessia Crippa entered the second heat in second place, but fell to fourth after the three women ahead of her all had outstanding second runs.
Austria’s Annia Unterscheider scored a fifth place finish, her better of the two races in Lillehammer. Her three best senior IBSF finishes have all come on the 1994 Olympic sliding track.
Germany’s Hanna Staub rounded out the top six, leaping up from ninth in the first heat.
The United States’ Michelle Toukan finished 15th.
