From Umhausen, AUT

Feb. 14, 2021 – Thomas Kammerlander cruised to victory in the men’s luge world championships in Umhasen, setting the quick time in both heats on his way to victory.
The Austrian opened up a .21 second lead over Italy’s Alex Gruber in the first heat. On the second run Gruber was quick, but Kammerlander was again quicker, finishing his second run .43 faster for a .64 second victory over Gruber.
The gold medal for Kammerlander was his second World Championships gold, he finished second in the 2019 edition.
Gruber’s two runs were the second quickest in both heats, sa he beat out teammate Patrick Pigneter for the silver medal. Pigneter edged out World Cup champion Michael Scheikl for the final spot on the podium.
Italy’s Stefan Federer and Austria’s Fabian Achenrainer rounded out the top six.
