Feb. 6, 2021 – Cedric Renner won his first career IBSF European Cup gold medal, coming from behind for victory.
Renner sat just .04 behind teammate Lukas Nydegger going into the second heat. On the second run Renner put down what would be the fastest run of the heat. Nydegger couldn’t quite match Renner’s pace, and at the end of his run he was second, just .04 back.
The win was the first IBSF gold medal for Renner. For Nydegger, the silver was his eighth straight top five in European Cup action.
Great Britain’s Ben Fulker leapfrogged teammate Jacob Salisbury in the second run to finish third, .91 out of gold. Salisbury struggled on his second run to fall out of the medals in fourth.
Timm Beiwinkler finished fifth in his first internaitonal race, one spot ahead of Alexander Schlintner in sixth.
Laurence Bostock rounded out a strong effort for Great Britain in ninth.
