From Park City, USA
Jan. 27, 2021 – John Daly stayed perfect in his return to IBSF international competition, winning his second straight North American Cup race in Park City.
Daly came into the second heat in second place, .04 behind teammate Daniel Barefoot. On the second run Daly threw down the fastest run of the day to move into the lead with only Barefoot to go. Barefoot mustered the third quickest run of the heat, .14 slower than his first run to move into second place.
The win for Daly was his ninth career NAC win. Over the course of his career dating back to the 2006/2007 season he’s finished off of the podium in NAC action only four times.
Barefoot finished second, tied with Ireland’s Brendan Doyle. Both sliders podiumed in the NAC opener as well, with Doyle winning bronze. Doyle’s two medals to start the seas were his first in IBSF international competition.
The United States’ Chris Strup came into the second heat in third, but fell to fourth on that second run. Canada’s Blake Enzie finished fifth, one spot ahead of Israel’s Jared Firestone in sixth.
The Uinted States put all four sliders in the top seven with Kyler Sultemeier finishing seventh. Canada’s Jordan Rwiyamilira finished eighth, just .04 aheadof teammate Troy Wilson in ninth, with Joel Seligstein and David Park rounding out the eleven sled field.
