(Dec. 20, 2020) – The FIL World Cup rounded out their 2020 calendar year with a Sprint World Cup race. Below are the results.
Doubles Luge
Toni Eggert & Sascha Benecken edged out World Cup leaders Thomas Steu & Lorenz Koller for gold to round out the season. The win gives Eggert & Benecken their 45th gold medal to tie teammates Tobias Wendl & Tobias Arlt for the overall medal career lead.
Wend & Arlt finished third, ahead of Italian teams Emanuel Rieder & Simon Kainzwaldner and Ludwig Reider & Patrick Rastner. World Cup rookies Hannes Orlamünder & Paul Gubitz rounded out the top six.

Women’s Luge
Julia Taubitz led a German sweep of the women’s sprint podium, winning handily over the field.
Natalie Geisenberger finished with her sixth straight silver medal to start the season. She’s finished second in both sprint races as well as all four traditional luge races.
Finishing third was Dajana Eitberger, who made up for a rough World Cup race the day before to medal in the last race of the calendar year.
Russia’s Tatyana Ivanova finished fourth, ahead of Hannah Prock and the previous day’s bronze medalist Eliza Tiruma.

Men’s Luge
It took six races, but someone figured out how to beat Felix Loch. Loch’s teammate Max Langenhan has the fastest speed at the start and the quickest time at every split on his way toa .058 victory over Kevin Fischnaller.
Fischnaller had the fast time earlier in the morning in the men’s luge but fell out of the medals on his second run. In the sprint, he finished second just ahead cousin Dominik Fischnaller. Dominik’s bronze was his second of the day.
Russia’s Semen Pavlichenko finished fourth, ahead of Loch in fifth, and Aleksandr Gorbatcevich in sixth.
