(Dec. 19, 2020) – Latvian Krists Netlaus won the second gold medal of his IBSF European Cup career in dominating style, cruising to victory in Sigulda.
Netlaus finished the first heat nearly a second ahead of anybody else in the race, and while he was edged out by German Cedric Renner for the quick time of the second heat, he had more than enough in the bank to win gold.
Netlaus’ previous gold was also in Sigulda.
Renner’s silver was his second straight and third medal to start the season. He won bronze in the season opener in Winterberg.
Germany took two spots on the Sigulda podium, winning bronze on the strength of Stefan Röttig’s effort. Lukas Nydegger helped put three German sleds in the top four with his fourth place effort.
Latvia’s Elvis Veinbergs finished fifth, and Demitrii Grevtsev sixth.
Grace Britain’s Laurence Bostock finished ninth.
