From Park City, USA
Feb. 16, 2020 – Karlien Sleper dominated the second of two monobob races in Park City, beating the field by over two full seconds.
Sleper carried a .4 second advantage over the United States’ Vanessa D’Arpino going into the second run. In the second heat the track had slowed down considerably, but Sleper was able to find speed where no one else could, setting the only second heat time under a minute on her way to a 2.36 second victory over D’Arpino.
The American finished second, .4 ahead of Marina Silva Tuono in third.
Ashleigh Werner, the previous day’s silver medalist, finished fourth, well ahead of the United States’ Lake Kwaza and Shelby Williamson, who finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
