Bos Wins ICC Finale, Curtis Wins Season Title

From Pyeongchang, KOR

Feb. 1, 2020 – Kimberley Bos won her first gold medal on an IBSF tour since 2016, winning the finale in Pyeongchang.

Bos had the two fastest runs in the race, opening up a .1 advantage over American Kelly Curtis in the first heat. On the second run, Bos bested Curtis again, this time by .4 for a half second victory over the American.

The win for Bos was her first on the ICC tour since November 2016 in Igls.

While Curtis finished second in the race, her finish was enough to win the Intercontinental Cup title in her first full season on the ICC tour. With Susanne Kreher not competing in South Korea, Curtis just needed to finish the second heat to take the overall title away from the German.

Curtis’ teammate Katie Uhlaneder finished third, breaking a streak of three straight ICC victories. Uhlaneder moved up from sixth in the first heat to take bronze.

Great Britain’s Ashleigh Pittaway finished fourth, .04 out of the medals, while Stefanie Votz and Jeonghyeok Lee rounded out the top six.

The United States’ Sara Roderick finished eighth on the strength of the fastest start in each heat, while Great Britain’s Amelia Coltman finished her season with a seventh place run in Pyeongchang.

Despite missing the final two races of the year, Kreher finished the season in second place overall, just ahead of Uhlaender. The American missed the opening two races of the season in Sochi. Roderick finished the season in fourth, ahead of Pittaway in fifth.
