From Deutschnofen, ITA
Jan. 26, 2020 – The Italian team of Evelin Lanthaler and Patrick Pigneter slid Italy to their third gold medal of the weekend in Deutschnofen, cruising to a combined .61 victory over the Russian team of Ekaterina Lavrenteva and Grigory Bukin.
Lanthaler opened up a massive lead on the field on her run, and while Pigneter’s slide was only the third quickest of the men it was only .11 off the time set by Austria’s Thomas Kammerlander and more than enough to hand Italy the gold medal.
Lavrenteva and Bukin had the second quickest times for both the women and men on their way to a silver medal, while the Austrian team of Tina Unterberger and Thomas Kammerlander rounded out the top three.
Germany, Poland, and Argentina finished fourth through sixth, respectively.
