Jan. 24, 2020 – Arturs Klots had the fast time in both heats on his way to a .51 second victory over Italian Fabrizio Caselli.
Klots was the quickest at every split in both heats. In the first heat he opened up a .37 advantage over Lonnie Bissonnette, .47 ahead of Caselli. On the second run Klots edged out Caselli in the heat to take gold.
Caselli edged out Bissonnette for silver by .02, with Bissonnette taking bronze.
Great Britain’s Corie Mapp finished fourth, ahead of Sebastian Westin-Vippola in fifth and Israel Blanco in sixth.
Despite Mapp finishing fourth, he continues to hold a strong lead in the World Cup points, 74 ahead of Bissonnette. Klots sits third, while Westin-Vippola, Christopher Stewart, and Caselli round out the top six.
Guillermo Castillo was the top-finishing American in 14th, five spots ahead of Sarah Frazier-Kim in 19th. Canadian Lee Thibeault finished 18th.
