From Park City, USA
Dec. 10, 2019 – Nathan Crumpton won his third straight North American Cup gold in Park City, coming from behind to beat a host of Chinese sliders.
Crumpton came into the second heat .02 behind Zheng Yin of China, and just ahead of Haifeng Zhu and Jing Zhang. Crumpton’s second run was by far the best of the heat, and it was enough to move him ahead of Yin by .28 to take gold.
The gold medal was both the third straight for Crumpton and the fifth medal in five races.
Yin finished just ahead of teammate Zhu for the silver medal, with Zhu winning bronze.
Zhang finished fourth, with Ander Mirambell finishing fifth for the third straight race, while Rin Kinoshita finished sixth.
Chris Strup was the top-scoring American in tenth placse. The United States put all four men in the top 20, with Zack Goodwin and Kyler Sultemeirer finishing 15th and 16th, and Hunter Williams finishing 20th.
For Canada, James Airey finished a career-best eighth. Troy Wilson missed the top ten by one spot in 11th, while Jordan Rwiyamilira and Patrick Farias finished 13th and 18th respectively.
