Dec. 8, 2019 – Corie Mapp won his first gold of the 2019/2020 IBSF Parabobsled World Cup with a big slide on his second run to take the win.
Mapp came into the second heat just out of the medals in fourth, but only .1 out of the gold medal position. On his second run Mapp put down the fastest run of the heat, and his 58.12 was a time nobody could come close to, giving him the victory.
Race 1 winner Lonnie Bissonnette finished second on the day despite neither of his runs being in the top three of their respective heats. Guro Fronsdal of Norway finished third on his home track, falling from first after the first heat.
Arturs Klots, Sebastian Westin-Vippola, and Fabrizio Caselli rounded out the top six.
Guillermo Castillo finished just out of the top six in seventh, while his American teammates Frederick Evans, Steven Jacobo, Tammy Landeen, and Sarah Frazier-Kim finished 13th, 16, 17th, and 18th respectively.
Lee Thibeault finished 21st in the second Canadian sled.
