Dec. 9, 2019 – Chinese slider Haifeng Zhu won gold in his second career North American Cup race, tying with American Samoa’s Nathan Crumpton for the honor.
In a one-heat race, both Crumpton and Zhu put down identical 50.92 runs on nearly identical start times.
China had a breakout NAC race, with Zheng Yin winning bronze, just ahead of Jing Zhang, who rounded out the top four.
Former NAC champion Ander Mirambell finished fifth, ahead of Rin Kinoshita of Japan, who finished a career-best sixth.
Chris Strup led the way for the United States with an eighth place finish. Kyler Sultemeirer finished 12th, Hunter Williams 18th, and Zack Goodwin 23rd to round out the American effort.
For Canada, Troy Wilson led the way in 11th, with James Airey, David Park, and Jordan Rwiyamilira finishing 13th through 15th, respectively.
