Dec. 8, 2019 – Lukas Nydegger led a German sweep of the men’s skeleton podium in the European Cup opener in a one-heat race.
Nydegger and teammates Felix Seibel and Martin Rosenberger sat atop the leaderboard after the first heat. Weather cut the race down to one heat, giving Germany all three medals.
The win was the first for Lukas Nydegger.
Russia’s Vladislav Semenov finished fourth, ahead of Latvia’s Krists Netlaus and Russia’s Dmitriy Gizitdinov, who finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
Matt Weston was the top British slider in the field, finishing 15th. Laurence Bostock finished 21st and Ben Fulker 24th, with all three sliders making their first career start.
Austin McCrary finished 18th as the lone American in the field.
