Dec. 8, 2019 – Hannah Stevenson and Amelia Coltman went 1-2 to kick off the IBSF European Cup women’s skeleton season.
The British sliders sat second and fourth respectively going into the second heat, while German Stefanie Votz led. On the second run both British women put down 59.61 runs to sit atop the leaderboard with only Votz to go. Votz’s second run couldn’t match the pace of her first, with Votz finishing in sixth, and the British women taking gold and silver.
The win was the first career victory for Stevenson, while Coltman’s silver came in her first career IBSF European Cup race.
Hanna Staub made the jump from ninth in the first heat to third on the strength of the second heat’s fastest run. Yuxi Li of China finished fourth in her first EC start, while Josefa Schellmoser fell from second to fifth.
Mystique Ro was the top-finishing American, tied for tenth with Alena Liutikova of Russia. Kristen Hurley finished 13th to round out the American effort.
