Dec. 7, 2019 – Lonnie Bissonnette came back from third to win the season’s first parabobsled race of the season, edging Great Britain’s Corie Mapp in the process.
Sebastian Westin-Vippola carried a .01 second lead over Mapp and a .02 lead over Bissonnette. On the second run, Bissonnette put down a run significantly faster than anyone before him and eventually after him.
Mapp held on for second place, .14 ahead of Westin-Vippola, who finished third.
Fabrizio Caselli sat tied for third with Bissonnette after the first heat but couldn’t match the Canadian’s pace on the second run and finished fourth,while Guro Konstantin Fronsdal and Jones Frei tied for fifth.
Guillermo Castillo was the top finishing American in ninth place. Evans Frederick finished 13th, Tammy Landeen 16th, Steven Jacobo 17th, and Frazier-Kim Sarah 19th to round out the United States’ effort.
