Dec. 7, 2019 – Richard Oelsner stayed perfect on his 2018/2019 season, winning 4-man European Cup gold in Altenberg.
The German pilot carried just a .02 second lead over teammate Hans Peter Hannighofer going into the second heat. On that run Oelsner was good enough to retain his lead, with a run that was second only to Bennet Buchmüller. Hannighoffer, on the other hand, had a seventh quickest run to drop him out of the medals into fourth.
Jonas Jannusch finished the race with a silver medal, .24 behind Oelsner, while Buchmüller finished third. Hannighoffer’s fourth place finish meant a sweep of the top four spots by Germany.
Oskars Melbardis finished fifth as the top non-German, while Lamin Deen finished sixth in the lone British sled in the field.
