Dec. 6, 2019 – Richard Oelsner won his second straight 2-man competition to open his 2019/2020 season, beating out Oskars Melbardis in the process.
Oelsner, the 2018/2019 2-man European Cup champion, cruised to victory. He was over .2 faster than anyone in each heat on his way to a .65 second victory over the Olympic 2-man bronze medalist.
Romanian Mihai Tentea continued his streak of European Cup 2-man medals with a third place finish, only .04 seconds behind Melbardis.
Simon Friedli, Jonas Jannuch, and Peter Hannighofer rounded out the top six.
After three races in the IBSF European Cup season, Melbardis holds a two point lead over Tentea, and a commanding lead over anyone else. Oelsner sits fifth overall despite skipping the first race of the season in Lillehammer. Melbardis is expected to move to the World Cup after the Christmas break.
