From Altenberg, GER
Dec. 5, 2019 – Richard Oelsner picked up right where he left off in the 2018/2019 2-man season, cruising to European Cup gold in Altenberg.
Oelsner, who skipped the season opener in Lillehammer, was the quickest in both heats on his way to a .36 victory over Romania’s Mihai Tentea.
Timo Rohner finished third, just .06 behind Tentea to secure the bronze medal.
Maximilian Illmann tied for fourth place with Olympic 4-man gold medalist Oskars Melbardis, who continues to come back from back injury. Jonas Jannusch rounded out the top six.
Oelsner cruised to a European Cup overall title in the 2018/2019 season, with only three total finishes outside of the top five across both 2-man and 4-man bobsled.
