From Lake Placid, USA
Nov, 21, 2019 – The Chinese men continued their gold medal form, with Wengang Yan winning his first career NAC gold in Lake Placid.
Yan and Germany’s Martin Rosenberger came into the second heat tied for the lead, well ahead of anyone else in the field. On that second run Rosenberger struggled at the top, opening the door for Yan. Yan took advantage and put down a time just a tenth of a second off his first run time to take gold.
Rosenberger held on for second, just ahead of Nathan Crumpton in third.
With his win, Yan joined teammate Wenqiang Geng as a winner early on in the 2019/2020 North American Cup season.
The United States’ Daniel Barefoot finished a career-best fourth, while Ander Mirambell and Hayisaer Asaierhazi finished fifth and sixth respectively.
Zack Goodwin finished ninth for the United States. Chris Strup finished 13th and Hunter Williams rounded out the American effort in 13th and 18th respectively.
Canada put two men in the top 20 with Troy Wilson leading the way in 15th. David Park finished 19th on the strength of two fourth-quickest starts. Jordan Rwiyamilira and James Airey finished 21st and 26 respectively.
