(Feb. 24, 2019) – Russia dominated the podiums in men’s, women’s, and doubles luge all weekend, and they finished the World Cup season with one more gold.
Russia edged Germany by .072 on their way to gold on the strength of a great run by World Cup champion Semen Pavlichenko. The duo of Toni Eggert & Sascha Benecken did their best to reel in the Russians, but ran out of track.
Latvia finished third in the five-team relay, with Italy and Austria rounding out the field.
Despite finishing second, Germany took the Team Relay World Cup championship, ahead of Russia and Latvia. Austria finished fourth, one point ahead of the United States and eight points ahead of Italy.
