(Jan. 26, 2019) – Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara cruised to victory in Deutschnofen, beating out familiar rivals to take gold.
The Italian doubles team opened up the race with a .66 second lead over the team of Pavel porshnev & Ivan lazarev and over a full second on Rupert Brüggler & Tobias Angerer. The second run was no different, with nobody able to keep up with Pigneter & Clara as they finished 1.03 seconds ahead of Porshnev & Lazarev and over two seconds ahead of anyone else.
The Russian duo finished second, with Brüggler & Angerer finishing third. Aleksandr Egorov & Petr Popov finished fourth..
Pigneter & Clara leave Deutschnofen with over a 100 point advantage over Egorov & Popov, and more than 150 points ahead of anyone else. With Brüggler & Angerer skipping the dual races in Moscow, they sit sixth in the overall standings.
