(Jan. 26, 2019) – Janine Becker won her fourth straight European Cup race, and in doing so won the season-long EC title.
The German set the quick run of the race in the first heat to take a .09 second lead over Agathe Bessard. On the second run Bessard matched that time, putting the pressure on Becker. Becker answered, and while she couldn’t match Bessard’s pace on the second run, her time was good enough to hang on to gold. Bessard finished second, just .04 back, while Darta Zunte won bronze.
Bessard’s silver medal was a career best finish.
Endija Terauda, Maria Surovtseva, and Luisa Hornung rounded out the top six.
With her win, Becker took the season-long European Cup women’s skeleton title. Hannah Neise finished second overall.
