From Moscow, RUS
(Jan. 20, 2019) – The Italian duo of Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara returned to their winning ways, taking gold on the back half of a Moscow doubleheader.
Pigneter & Clara were the quickest in both heats, setting the two fastest times of the competition on their way to a .41 second victory over Aleksandr Egorov & Petr Popov.
The previous day’s winners, Stanislav Kovshik & Ilia Tarasov, finished third.
The win moves the Italians comfortably ahead of Egorov and Popov in the season’s point race with a handful of races to go. Rupert Brüggler & Tobias Angerer skipped the trip to Moscow, likely tanking their chances of a season title this year.
