From Königssee, GER
(Jan 6., 2019) – Germany won its 37th FIL World Cup Team Relay competition, edging out Austria for gold in Königssee.
The Germans went out to a quick start with Julia Taubitz opening up a .2 second lead over Hannah Prock of Austria. Prock’s teammate, Königssee men’s gold medalist Reinhard Egger, moved the Austrians into the lead after his run. A great run by Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken was enough to move the Germans to the top of the podium by two tenths of a second over Austria.
The United States finished with a bronze medal, their second of the weekend (Summer Britcher), a half second off the pace set by Germany.
Latvia, Russia, and Canada rounded out the top six.
