From Winterberg, GER
(Jan. 5, 2018) – Christoph Hafer won his second consecutive 4-man race, coming from behind to take gold.
The German pilot sat just .03 behind Russian Rostislav Gaitiukevich going into the second heat. Gaitiukevich struggled on his second run, setting only the eighth quickest run and falling down the leader board.
That is all Hafer needed to win gold, eventually finishing .33 ahead of silver medalist Patrick Baumgartner of Italy.
Gaitiukevich finished third, just ahead of Korean Youngjin Suk in fourth.
Mihai Tentea of Romania and Jonas Jannusch finished finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
