From Calgary, CAN
(Dec. 22, 2018) – Guro Konstanse Fronsdal won her first IBSF Para World Cup gold medal, becoming the second woman to win gold in the sport.
Fronsdal was the quickest in the first heat, just ahead of Great Britain’s Corie Mapp and Race 3 winner Andreas Kapfinger. In the second heat both Mapp and Fronsdal faltered, but the Norwegian was quick enough to hold off Kapfinger to win gold.
Kapfinger finished second, while Christ Rasmussen and Steven Jacobo tied for third. Tour point leader Lonnie Bissonnette finished fifth, while Nicholls settled for sixth.
Fronsdal’s win made her the second woman to win gold in the IBSF Para World Cup, joining Latvian Annija Krumina, who took gold in the 2017/2018 Calgary stop.
