(Dec. 16, 2018) – Below are the results from the second Sprint World Cup, run on December 16, 2018.
Doubles Luge
The duo of Toni Eggert & Sascha Benecken won their sixth straight doubles luge event in Lake Placid, winning gold in the Sprint World Cup event one day after winning in the World Cup race.
Behind the German team were the team of Chris Mazdzer & Jayson Terdiman, who scored their first medal since teaming up for World Cup action prior to the 2018/2019 season with a silver, just ahead of the Canadian team of Tristan Walker & Justin Snith.
Tobias Wendl & Tobias Arlt finished fourth, with Andris & Juris Sics and Robin Geueke & David Gamm in fifth and sixth respectively.

Women’s Luge
German Natalie Geisenberger stayed perfect on the season in the Sprint World Cup, edging out Summer Britcher by .078 on her way to victory.
Britcher finished second, ahead of German Julia Taubitz who rounded out the podium, while American Emily Sweeney once again just missed a medal in fourth.
Brittney Arndt finished a stellar weekend with a fifth place finish, just ahead of World Cup gold medalist Dajana Eitberger in sixth.

Men’s Luge
Roman Repilov led a Russian one-two in the men’s Sprint World Cup, edging out teammate Semen Pavlichenko by .034 on his way to gold.
Johannes Ludwig finished third, just .011 ahead of Olympic gold medalist David Gleirscher in fourth. Reinhard Egger and Olympic bronze medalist Chris Mazdzer rounded out the top six.
American Tucker West finished tenth.
