(Dec. 16, 2018) – Alysia Rissling won her first career European Cup gold medal, taking gold in Germany.
The Canadian carried a .03 second advantage over Christin Senkel going into the second heat, but pulled away on her second run to win by .35.
The gold was the first for the 2018 Olympian in just over two years (Whistler NAC – 11/24/2016).
Christin Senkel, the Race 2 winner, edged out Romanian Andreea Grecu for silver, with Grecu tying a career-best senior bobsled finish with a bronze medal.
Laura Nolte finished fourth, ahead of Qing Ying in fifth and Christine de Bruin in sixth.
Australian pilot Breeana Walker finished ninth, while Julie Johnson rounded out the Canadian effort in 11th.
