From Park City, USA
(Dec. 14, 2018) – After a season that saw 2016/2017 IBSF Para Sport champion Lonnie Bissonnette not score the gold medals that he had in his rookie year, Bissonnette righted the ship in the 2018/2019 season opener in Park City, cruising to a gold medal.
The Canadian was the quickest in both heats on his way to victory. His first run was far and away the quickest of the race, leaving the field in his tracks and racing for second place.
The winner of that silver medal was Andreas Kapfinger of Austria, who was just edged by Bissonnette on the second run. Swiss pilot Christopher Stewart finished with a bronze medal.
Rounding out the top six were Stebasian Westin, Kenneth Jorgensen and Alvils Brants.
Barry Schroeder was the top-scoring American in 7th, while teammates Guillermo Castill and Steven Jacobo finished ninth and 11th to round out the USA’s effort.
