From Königssee, GER
(Dec. 6, 2018) – Fabian Küchler stayed perfect on the 2018/2019 IBSF European Cup season, winning in Königssee.
The German was the quickest at the top in both heats, but trailed Russian Evgeniy Rukosuev by .05 going into the second heat. Küchler set the fast time of the race in the second heat to put the pressure on the young Russin. Rukosuev couldn’t answer, only putting down the fifth quickest time of the heat to drop to the silver medal position, giving Küchler the win and the gold medal.
Rukosuev finished second, with German Lukas Nydegger moving into third.
American Austin Florian finished with his third fourth place finish of the season, ahead of Germany’s Robin Schneider and Cedric Renner who rounded out the top six.
At the halfway point of the IBSF European Cup season, Küchler holds a commanding point lead over Rukosuev and Schneider, who are the only athletes within 100 points of him. American Austin Florian sits fourth, only 37 points back of Schneider and 39 behind Rukosuev.
Stefan Squire finished 14th as the lone British slider in the field, while Stephen Garbett finished 21st for the United States.
