(Nov. 16, 2018) – Madelaine Smith won her first European Cup gold medal in Igls, taking the win in dominating fashion.
The British slider was quicker than anyone in both heats on her way to a 1.09 second win ahead of German Hannah Neise. Smith’s win was her first medal in six European Cup starts, and her first gold since winning on the North American Cup circuit in January of 2017.
German Janine Becker rounded out the medals with a bronze, finishing just .1 ahead of British slider Kimberley Murray. Endija Terauda of Latvia and Josefa Schellmoser of Germany rounded out the top six.
Hannah Stevenson finished ninth and Philippa Wellington eleventh to finish out the British effort.
