From Whistler, CAN
(Nov. 7, 2018) – Olympic 2-man champion Justin Kripps won the North American Cup season opener in Whistler, leading the charge in a Canadian sweep of the podium.
Kripps set the fast time in both heats on his way to gold, beating out teammate Nick Poloniato in the process. Poloniato moved up from fourth to second with his second run, edging out Chris Spring by .04 for the spot.
American Codie Bascue finished fourth after coming into the second heat in the silver medal position. Olympic 4-man silver medalist Yunjong Won and Canadian Taylor Austin rounded out the top six in a race that featured ten 2-man pilots from the 2018 Olympic Games.
Justin Olsen finished just outside the top eight in the second American sled, while British pilots Lamin Deen and Brad Hall finished 13th and 16 respectively.
