From Umhausen, ITA
Feb. 17, 2018 – Thomas Kammerlander won his third gold of the season on his way to clinching the 2017/2018 FIL World Cup in Umhausen.
The Austrian was quickest in the first heat, beating out doubles champion Patrick Pigneter by .21. On their second trip down, Pigneter set a quick time, and while it was faster than Kammerlander, it wasn’t enough to unseat the Austrian.
Italians finished second through fourth, with Pigneter beating out teammates Alex Gruber and Florian Clara, who finished third and fourth respectively. Austrians Michael Scheikl and Florian Glatzl rounded out the top six.
Kammerlander’s win finished out a season where he finished with three golds, two silvers and a bronze medal to edge out Alex Gruber for the overall title. Patrick Pigneter finished third overall, ten points behind Gruber.
