(Jan. 28, 2018) Alex Gruber won his second race of the season, keeping him in the hunt for a hotly contested World Cup title in men’s luge.
Gruber was the fastest in both heats in the final race in Italy to beat teammate Patrick Pigneter by .66 and Thomas Kammerlander by 1.35 seconds.
The win moves Gruber within 15 points of the World Cup lead with one race to go, currently held by Kammerlander. Pigneter sits third, 40 points out of the lead and 25 out of second place.
Gregori Bukin of Russia finished fourth, while Stefan Federer and Florian Glatzl rounded out the top six.
