From Igls, AUT
(Jan. 19, 2018) Alina Tararychenkova won her second race of the season, setting the fast time in a one-heat race in Igls.
The Russian was second-fastest off the top and edged German Sophia Griebel by .16 to take gold in the final race of the European Cup season.
The win was the fourth medal of the season for the Russian junior.
Tararychenkova’s teammate, Anastasia Trufanova, finished a career-best third, edging Great Britain’s Brogan Crowley by .02 for the position.
Crowley, Italy’s Valentina Margaglio, and Alena Frolova of Russia rounded out the top six.
Crowley’s fourth place win was enough to give her the European Cup points title over Tararychenkova. She finished the season with one gold medal, six podiums, and never placed worse than fourth.
Tararychenkova and Great Britain’s Eleanor Furneaux finished the season second and third overall.
Samantha Culiver McQuade finished the final race of the season in 14th place, five spots ahead of teammate Veronica Day in 19th.
Kimberley Murray finished 13th and Ashleigh Pittaway 20th to round out the British effort.
