From St. Sebastian, AUT
(Jan. 21, 2018) Thomas Kammerlander won his second race of the season, extending his points lead in the process.
The Austrian came into the second run in St. Sebastian behind only Italian Alex Gruber. Kammerlander was quick on his second run, and put the pressure on Gruber. Gruber couldn’t answer, only recording the fourth fastest time of the heat and handing the victory to Kammerlander.
With is win, Kammerlander continued to be the only non-Italian to win a FIL Natural Track race this season. He has two silver medals to back up his two golds, and will carry a 45 point lead into Deutschnofen, Italy.
Gruber finished second for his fourth podium in as many events, while Michael Scheikl of Austria finished third.
Pigneter and his doubles teammate, Florian Clara, finished fourth and fifth, while Florian Glatzl rounded out the top six.
Kiwi Jack Leslie finished tenth, while British luger Dex Unwin finished 24th.
