From Igls, AUT
(Jan. 5, 2018) German junior Pablo Nolte won his first ever European Cup two-man competition in Igls, leading a German sweep of the podium in the process.
Nolte was just barely quicker than teammate Bennet Buchmüller in each heat, winning by .09 over two heats. The gold medal was Nolte’s first in two-man competition, adding to a gold in four-man in February of 2017 (Königssee).
Buchmüller finished second, ahead of Christof Hafer in third. The three Germans lead the European Cup standings with one race to go, with Hafer ahead of Nolte and Buchmüller.
Romanian junior Mihai Tentea finished fourth, moving up from fifth in the second heat, while Jonas Jannusch and Vuk Radenovic rounded out the top six.
Dutch slider Ivo de Bruin was disqualified for being overweight.
