(Jan. 5, 2018) Katie Uhlaender ended 2017 with a leg injury that left her unable to start properly. She kicked off 2018 with a pair of Intercontinental Cup medals, including a win in the sixth race of the ICC season.
The American was fifth fastest off the top of the historic track, and quickest at the bottom in the one-heat race, edging German Sophia Griebel by just .03 and Russian Alena Tararychenkova by .05.
Race 5 winner Janine Becker finished just .04 out of the medals in fourth place, while American Megan Henry and Germany’s Hannah Neise rounded out the top six.
Both British sliders worked their way into the top ten, with Kimberley Murray finishing seventh and Madelaine Smith ninth.
Gracie Clapp-Taylor finished 12th to round out the American effort, while Canadians Madi Charney and Jaclyn LaBerge finished 16th and 17th respectively.
