From Calgary, CAN
(Dec. 8, 2017) The locations may change, but the results have stayed the same in the FIL World Cup for the German duo of Toni Eggert & Sascha Benecken. In the fourth race of the season, Eggert & Benecken cruised to a .143 second victory over the field.
For the fourth time in four events, Eggert & Benecken had the quick time in both heats on their way to victory, this time over Austria’s Penz & Fischler.
The Austrian duo held off a charge by Tobias Wendl & Tobias Arlt, who closed the gap between the two teams on their second run, but didn’t quite have the speed to move into silver.
The Latvian team of Sics & Sics finished fourth, ahead of Germany’s Geueke & Gamm in fifth and Canada’s Tristan Walker & Justin Snith in sixth on their home ice.
Matt Mortensen & Jayson Terdiman finished seventh to lead the United States. Justin Krewson & Andrew Sherk finished 11th, while Jacob Hyrns & Anthony Espinoza finished 16th to round out the American effort.
