From Kühtai, AUT
(Dec. 3, 2017) Italy cruised to victory in the opener of the natural track team relay, beating Austria by over a full second.
The Austrians had the fastest runs for women, men, and doubles with only Italy to come, but Greta Pinggera put Italy up by a full second. Alex Gruber’s run was a bit behind Thomas Kammerlander’s, leaving the gold medal up to the duo of Patrick Pigneter and Florian Clara. Pigneter and Clara were near-perfect, clinching the gold medal for Italy, while Austria finished just over a second off the pace in second.
Russia capped off a solid weekend with a team bronze medal.
