(Nov. 17, 2017) Hunter Church continued the United States’ mastery of Winsport in Canada, winning a tight race in Calgary.
Church came into his second run just .05 out of a gold medal, but in third behind Brazil’s Edson Bindilatti and Youngjin Suk of Korea. On that second run Church was the class of the field, moving into the lead with only Suk and Bindilatti to come. Neither slider could keep pace with either Church or teammate Geoffrey Gadbois, giving the Americans another 1-2 finish in Calgary.
Suk finished third, just .03 ahead of first run leader Bindilatti. Pius Meyerhans of Switzerland and Yijun Shao finished sixth.
