Ying Wins First Chinese Women’s Bobsled Gold Medal

(Nov. 14, 2017) Qing Ying became the first Chinese women’s bobsled pilot to win a gold medal, winning by a quarter-second in the third North American Cup race of the season.

Ying was the fastest woman down the Winsport track in both heats, edging the United States’ Kristi Koplin by .03 in the first heat before winning by a comfortable .25.

Koplin finished second, ahead of Yooran Kim of Korea, who finished with a bronze medal.

Koplin’s teammate, Nicole Vogt, finished fourth, ahead of Race 2 winner Julie Johnson and former American pilot Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian.

Rachel Hauck finished 7th for Canada, with teammates Melissa Lowe finishing 11th and Kori Hol 13th.
