Unlike the close race in the women’s luge event, the men’s race was far from close. Much like women’s event, though, it was an Italian atop the podium.
Alex Gruber won by .74 over Russian Juri Talikh, finding speed all the way down the lengthy Romanian track. Gruber only had the fastest split down the bottom third of the Romanian track after Thomas Kammerlander had a bit of trouble toward the bottom of his run.
Kammerlander’s trouble dropped him from first halfway down the track to third at the finish, giving him a bronze medal.
Patrick Pigneter finished fourth, ahead of Jack Leslie of New Zealand and Florian Glatzl of Austria.
