From Oberhof, GER
Much like they did in World Championships a week ago, the Germans swept the podium in Oberhof.
Tobias Wendl & Tobias Arlt dominated the doubles event, setting the fast time in both heats on their way to victory. Wendl & Arlt were the only team to set times under 41 seconds in each heat, winning by over a tenth of a second ahead of Toni Eggert & Sascha Benecken.
The Germans, as a whole, were well ahead of the rest of the field. Robin Geueke & David Gamm finished with a bronze medal to round out the German effort, over .2 ahead of Canadians Tristan Walker & Justin Snith. Geueke & Gamm came into the second run in fifth, but trouble by the teams of Denisyev & Antonov and Sics & Sics helped them move up into the medals.
Walker & Snith finished a season-best fourth, ahead of Vladislav Yuzhakov & Iurii Prokhorov of Russia and Wojciech Chmielewski & Jakub Kowalewski of Poland.
Americans Matt Mortensen & Jayson Terdiman finished eighth to lead the effort for the United States. Justin Krewson & Andrew Sherk finished 16th, while Jacob Hyrns & Anthony Espinoza finished 22nd.
