From Deutschnofen, ITA
For the first time in a long time, the overall World Cup points battle is, in fact, a battle.
Pavel Porshnev & Ivan Lazarev came into their second run a half second ahead of Italians Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara. On their second run, Pigneter & Clara were the fastest of the heat, but not fast enough to take the win away from the Russians.
With their win, Porshnev & Lazarev are still in second place overall leaving Deutschnofen, but only by five points with just Umhausen to come.
For Pigneter & Clara, the silver medal is their second of the season, combined with two wins and a bronze medal. But a sixth place in Moscow, coupled with the worst season for the Italians in years, leaves the door open for the Russians.
Christian & Andreas Schopf finished third, over a second behind the leaders to take bronze, while the teams of Brueggler & Angerer, Regensburger & Holzknecht, and Martyanov & Rodin rounded out the top six.
