Results from the sixth IBSF European Cup women’s skeleton race of the 2016/2017 season, held January 12, 2017.
Maxi Just set the fast time in both runs to win the women’s skeleton event by nearly a half-second over teammate Tamara Seer. Seer had the quickest start in both heats (5.14 twice), and was the quickest down at each split but couldn’t hang on in either run.
Germany swept the podium with Hannah Neise setting the third fastest run in both heats to finish third.
British slider Kimberley Murray came into the second run with hopes of a medal, but faltered in her second run, finishing just off the podium in fourth. Russian Anastasia Shlapak and German Corinna Leipold finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
Kellie Delka led the way for the United States with a seventh place finish, while teammate Samantha Culiver finished 16th.
It was a solid showing for Great Britain across the time sheets. Aside from Murray’s fourth place finish, Brogan Crowley finished ninth to put two British sleds in the top ten. Eleanor Furneaux finished 13th to round out the British effort.
Canadian Grace Dafoe finished eighth on the strength of two 5.55 start times.
