Results from the fifth two-man bobsled race on the IBSF North American Cup calendar, held January 9, 2017.
Taylor Austin won gold for Canada on the strength of the fastest run in the first heat.
Austin came into the second run just .07 ahead of Youngjin Suk of Korea and .12 ahead of Nick Cunningham of the United States. On that second run, Cunningham threw down the fastest run, but Austin was able to put down a quick enough run to keep the American behind him and take gold. Cunningham finished with a silver medal, just .09 behind, and Suk finished third, .31 off the pace.
Austin was pushed by two-time Olympic medalist Lascelles Brown.
Edson Bindilatti finished fourth for Brazil, ahead of Australian Lucas Mata and American Geoffrey Gadbois, who rounded out the top six.
Hunter Church and Dustin Greenwood rounded out the American effort in eighth and 12th, respectively.
Carter Malyk and Parker Reid rounded out the Canadian effort in ninth and 16th place.
