From Winterberg, GER
Germans Tajana Hüfner and Natalie Geisenberger each set the fast times in heats one and two of the final women’s event of the season, but Hüfner was able to hold off her teammate to take gold in Winterberg.
Hüfner was the third quickest in the second run, but was able to put down a quick enough time to stay ahead of the field behind her. Tatiana Ivanova of Russia finished third.
Eliza Cauce came into the second run in second place, but the Latvian could only muster an eighth fastest run to drop to fourth. Erin Hamlin finished fifth for the United States, while sprint world champion Martina Kocher finished sixth.
The Americans placed all three of their women in the top ten. Summer Britcher had trouble in the first heat, finishing the run in 16th. Her second run was the second fastest of the heat, moving her up to eighth. Emily Sweeney finished one spot behind her in ninth.
Arianne Jones took tenth place for Canada, while teammate Kimberley McRae finished 14th.
