From Umhausen, AUT
Thomas Kammerlander hung out in the medals all season long, winning the European Championships, but unable to find gold in any of the first five World Cup events. Finally, in the final race of the season, the European champ scored a World Cup gold medal in his home nation.
Kammerlander was the quickest slider in both heats to take gold ahead of Italian Patrick Pigneter. Pigneter’s second run was third fastest, but enough to keep him ahead of countryman Alex Gruber, who took bronze.
Italy rounded out the entire top five behind Kammerlander, with Pigneter’s doubles teammate Florian Clara finishing fourth, just ahead of Stefan Federer. Florian Glatzl of Austria finished sixth.
Jack Leslie finished 16th for New Zealand, while Samuel Budd finished 25th for Great Britain.
